Entry from: Mandalay, Myanmar Entry Title: “Are you SURE youre not Japanese?” Entry: “In an unabashed effort to one-up my brother’s list of countries visited, I have made a point of travelling to areas that rate high on the canadian foreign service’s ‘do not go list’. At first, I figured that I would just travel to some extremely dangerous locale that he would never have a chance to go visit- such as Afghanistan, Iraq, or Kreplachistan- but soon realized that the first two are war-torn nations and the third happens to be a figment of Mike Myers’ imagination. As such, I threw my hands up in a fit, looked at a map, and pointed to a giant pink blob between India and Thailand. While it may not be the most dangerous place on earth these days- nowhere near it infact- the shamble of a nation-state represented by that pink blob has often come under international scrutiny for some rather ‘minor’ abuses of power in the field of human rights. Since i’m the least right human there is, I knew that this was the place for me. The peak of its fame in the west came during “The Foundation” episode of Seinfeld, where soon after Elaine proposes an Urban Sombrero as the cover item for the J. Peterman catlogue, she receives a phone call from Mr. Peterman asking her to take over the company: ELAINE: Mr. Peterman, you can’t
