American Airlines May Cancel Up to 500 Flights

American Airlines says it’s canceling up to 500 of its flights today to check the bundling of wires in some planes. It’s the same safety issue that caused the airline to scrap more than 400 flights last month. (April

Yeah, he ran the airline well. Actually, he and CR Smith. Gerald Arpey is screwing up big time. I’m only a passenger, but i don’t want my favorite airline going out of business.

American is replacing their MD-8o fleet with 737s. It takes time and money. Forget about Airbuses- they’re shit and American has a gentleman’s agreement with Boeing.
While I hate flying them, you have to be reasonable here. They’re not older than Northwest’s DC-9s, which are close to 40 years old yet are still being used. And the last MD-80s were made just over 10 years ago when Boeing bought McDonnell Douglas, not decades ago.

American airlines has a lot of explaining to do. They knew those wires needed maintenance yet they wait until they were forced to fix them to repair them. I guess life doesn’t matter to the people making the choices. Three ring circus.

325 MD-80s, the airplanes were not unsafe, just maintenance records were not recorded properly and inspections were not done in a timely manner. an aircraft can travel to many different destinations in one day, if one plane gets taken out of service it messes up the other flights that, that aircraft was going to fly that day. Imagine all 325 aircrafts taken out, that’s over a 1000 flights canceled.

this company went into shock when Southwest got its 10million dollar fine. What they would’ve been fined probably exceeds the millions they’ve lost so far in these cancellations. What about the other aircraft in its fleet? They may be flying coffins too!!

like the comment I posted above, that’s pathetic to run 300 UNSAFE PLANES THAT WENT OUT OF PRODUCTION TWNETY YEARS AGO. Those MD-80’s aren’t planes. They’re just death traps.

MD-80’s need to be grounded. The company that made those
was bought out by boeing decades ago. Why can’t American Airlines replace thier
MD-80 fleet with 737’s or Airbuses? It dosen’t make any sense!!!

The American Airlines CEO and all of the upper executives should immediately be FIRED!
They did this on PURPOSE to try to sway the corrupt politicians in Washington D.C. that safetly inspections will reduce their GREEDY PROFITS. In other words, let the public be damned.
Notice how no other airlines either in the U.S., Germany, England, Italy has resorted to corruption techniques.

I’ve been with AA for 15 years, and they really messed up. Folks, they (corporate big wigs) better not accept their million dollar bonuses after the mess that they caused. Bob Crandall….where are you? He was an ass, but a loveable ass.
